I’m a Military research scientist interested in systems biology, systems toxicology, environmental health, military operational medicine, and clinical decision support. My computing interests include R, RStudio, ShinyApps, Text Mining, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Python. I’ve had more than 18 years of research experience, 11 years experience in military research, and I love learning new things. I’m most excited and passionate about data science and becoming the best data scientist possible.
As an Army Officer, I have demonstrated executive leadership and management skills, with expertise in basic and applied research, preclinical and clinical research, and advanced development and regulatory affairs. I’ve managed multimillion dollar per year intramural research programs funded through the Military Operational Medicine Research Program (MOMRP), Defense Health Program (DHP), and Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). I’ve managed day-to-day operations in a research laboratory setting with up to fourteen scientists, routinely briefed senior leaders, provided strategic and operational planning, conflict resolution, and staffing management. I have proven ability to identify solutions to military problems, identify and successfully compete for and acquire new sources of funding, lead multidisciplinary teams, and collaborate within the DoD, Army, federal agencies, private industry, and academic institutions.
